I have only tabbed a bit of the lead. I have left another stave for _you_ to tab the rhythm guitar in the background... :) thank you for contributing, a lot of people will appreciate it. Well, I think those high notes are harmonics... if you dont agree, then use the 10th fret of the B string instead - it's the same note. If you don't know how to do natural harmonics, get someone who plays a lot of guitar to show you. It's kind of hard to explain in writing... but you have to fret the note without pushing the string down. Try it, put ONE finger on the string _where the fret would be_ (not between frets) and dont push the string down onto the fretboard, just pluck the note. after you've plucked the harmonic, you can take your finger off and it will still ring. They work the most on the 12th, 5th, and 7th frets... the open string is the fundamental, 12th harmonic is first overtone (one octave higher than the open string) and the fifth fret harmonic is two octaves higher than the open string. The seventh fret harmonic is the fifth (in the major scale) of the open string. This is physics. :) key: 5/7 slide up 7\5 slide down x muted note (deaden the string when you pluck it) !5! natural harmonic Intro: Two guitars, Electric Lead (top ) Accoustic rhythm ( bottom) D5 e:---------------------|------------------|--3--1-0---------| B:-----1-3----1-3------|----1-3----1-3----|----------1--1/3-| G:--2-------0----------|--2------0--------|-----------------| D:-----------------3---|---------------3--|-----------------| A:---------------------|------------------|-----------------| E:---------------------|------------------|-----------------| e:---------------------|------------------|-----------------| B:---------------------|------------------|-----------------| G:---------------------|------------------|-----------------| D:---------------------|------------------|-----------------| A:---------------------|------------------|-----------------| E:---------------------|------------------|-----------------| e:--5--3--0---------------|--------------------------|-----------12-x-12------| B:----------1--1/3--3-3-3-|--3-3---------------------|-----------10-x-10------| G:------------------------|--------------------------|------------------------| D:------------------------|--------------------------|------------------------| A:------------------------|------!5!--!5!--!5!-------|--!5!--!5!---------!5!--| E:------------------------|--------------------------|------------------------| Close to my skin... The last couple of days I have been working on transcribing the chili peppers new album for guitar, and in some cases for bass too (although i've hardly ever picked up a bass) :) I've done some of most of the tracks tonight, but I've got a major due yesterday and I've got test week coming up... it's too much to finish. I have tabbed the intros and maybe verses to most of the songs, to give everyone a start - the idea is to get a network of people tabbing the album so it can be accurate and available for bands in the near future! I don't play bass or drums, it would be great if other people could help out with transcribing instruments, thanks. The other idea of tabbing a little bit is to give all you guitarists a start; and please help with the tabbing if you think you've got better versions/methods/whatever. If you have any corrections, additions (I haven't added song layouts; where choruses go and how many verse riffs to play etc... these layouts are really helpful for bands), or comments to add then don't be lazy and ignore it, email...! Everyone who contributes will get credit, and thanks in advance for your effort. If you want more transription of this particular track, the solo, or whatever, then send me or some other transcriber a _friendly polite_ email with a request of what you're after. :) If we get a lot of requests for a particular song, it will get more priority... but polite requests get the most attention. Sorry 'bout the legal stuff at the top, but it's gotta be there. :) --- Written by Anthony Kiedis, Flea, John Frusciante, Chad Smith (c) 1999 Moebetoblame Music BMI Lyrics reprinted by permission.
