Roskilde 2003

Some pictures from Roskilde August 17 2003

August 17 was a very hot day at Roskilde, I was there and enjoyed the "Flyvningens Dage 2003". Many old and unusual planes participated. This was a 2-day event, but sunday was the big day. The main program started at 13.00 with 2 F-16 fighters making a low and noisy "attac" on the field. The show had everything from old and slow mashines to big, new and fast planes. A replica of the Wright Flyer 1 taxied around for everyone to see and hear. ( The chaindriven propellors was powered by an old autoengine and had a nice sound ). Very nice sound was also heard from a Spitfire with its Merlin V-12, and this plane was NOT taxiing around. We got the full program, loops, rolls, high-speed passes and sharp turns. A high speed and low altitude pass was also performed by an ATR 42 from Danish Airtransport, I think it made the lowest fly-by, turning at not more than 30 ft. is my guess. Impressive ! Also impressive were the 8 KZ-planes of different types that made a formationflight. A Fouga Magister, 2 DC-3;s, Vampire, Harvard, Cessna Citation, Ultralights and much more was seen in the air and on the ground. Many exhibits and displays with relations to aviation were also found around the area.

A hot and sunny day, or should I say a hot and funny day.
