Here we can clearly see how the sprocket wheel and the gears are used to  move the piston back and then releasing it at the endpoint to thrust forward into the chamber thus working up so much pressure that a BB can be released. Notice the HopUp notch on the upper side of the barrel (hop up is further explained at main page)
