A picture of the Kitchenlamp. The lamp is the association's
                     symbol for the work carried out in the western parts of Kenya.
                     It symbolizes the light burning within the people involved in
                     the association and co-operationprojects.

                                                              
                      The lamp is a simple parrafinlamp made of a tin. The lamps weak flame lights up the
                     darkest  evenings in the african huts.
 

                                   The association's goals are:
 
To create friendship between people in a developing country 
- foremost the Mount Elgondistrict in Kenya 
- to get to learn more about eachothers living conditions and culturesand thus increase understanding between different people.		 To create and maintain channels for mutual exchange of thoughts, knowledge and experiences. To make people recognize the situation in the world of today, especially the relations between developing coutries and the industrial countries. To show people practical oppurtunities how to make a personal effort in development assistance work.

The association has got new money from SIDA
in the summer of 1997 to maintain a few projects.

The Kimililiproject

The project is to build a centre for education in Kimilili. There is
already a smaller building whee the association supports the
activity of a association for disabled. One room functions
as a exhibition for treeplantation and the using of the Jikoo.
A Jikoo is a small, simple lowenergy-stove which is made  in Kimilili, Kenya.
The purpose of the tree-plantationproject is, among other things,
to make firewood for cooking. The purpose of the oven-project is
to decrease the consumption of firewood with fifty percent.
In the centre for education different kinds of courses will be
held for the locals in the area. The group of disabled people make
furniture, which is being sold to the people in the area. A project for
bee-keeping is also running. Local producers of honey will be able to
pack the honey and label it with special "honey-labels" for the Western
provins.

The Kaptamaproject
The association started the co-operationprojects ten years ago in
the village Kaptama. In Kaptama we work together with different
women-organisations. For the time being the projects own farm is
developing. Different kinds of crops are being tried out and a poultry
has been constructed.
