This is a interview from Metal Hammer magazine where Davy Vain and Danny West talk about the songs on the No Respect album.

SECRETS

Davy: This was really cool. This was the first thing that we did, we set up all the tones and got the mikes fixed so that we could all play together. We warmed up for while then we decided to go for it and put the song down in one take, which is why the song sounds so energetic. It was actually a little faster than we normally play it but it was kickinī ass so much that we thought it was a real killer so we left it like that! Thatīs why we picked it for the first track, it was kinda sleazy and punky so we thought letīs go for it

BEAT THE BULLET

Davy: This is the latest single and is about sexual temptation and how the results of it can be dangerous. I came about this because Iīm pretty promiscuous, you know I make chicks wear rubbers (?) and what with all the scares about sexual diseases and particulary AIDS, it made me thilnk. Sometimes itīs almost as if I should get down on my knees and pray that I can "beat the bullet". Some people have applied a drugs connotation to it but I guess ther are other ways at looking at it. Sex has more to do with it . Iīm more tempted by sex than most people, itīs my hobby! Iīm just looking for my perfect mate and I donīt like to pass opportunities!

WHOīS WATCHING YOU

Davy: This is about how chicks and guys are always watching each other . The interesting thing is about this song is that weīve taken most of the f**ks out. We used to sing it all the time but since Guns nī Roses came out with all the swearing on their album, we decided to take a lot out so that people wouldnīt think we were copying them. Basically though "Whoīs watching you" is "Whoīs f**king you".

1000 DEGREES

Davy: This song is about sex. Whilst "Whoīs watching you" is kind of light in feel, this one is more serious and has more to do with really desiring someone so bad that you are burning up at 1000 degrees. Itīs like an ex-relationship haunting this chick and the guy is on her mind and sheīs with someone else now and missing her ex. The lyric goes "Youīve had your pleasure, well hereīs your pain, now the night drives you insane" Thereīs nothing that can f**k with your life quite like love.

ACES

Davy: Aces is just a rock nī roll song about being on top. Itīs about having the hand which you know is going to win and one which no-one can beat. Rock nī roll is a triumphant thing when youīre up there on stage you feel as if youīre holding all the aces and being a bad motherf**ker.

SMOKE AND SHADOWS

Davy: This is kind of like about sex, about girls and bed again!
Danny: Itīs kind of dreamy.
Davy: This song I wrote about a chick that I really cared about a long time ago. She said she used to have these dreams where she felt that Iīd come to her in the night, it goes "in your arms I slept last night even though I wasnīt there..."
Danny: Itīs kind of hypnotic. With this song we used to trow a twist in it live and start with it. This is the last song you can ever imagine starting a set and then weīd kick their ass.

NO RESPECT

Davy: This is about this chick! For a change huh! Well itīs better than writing songs about cars! This is about this chick that I wanted to f**k and I was into her so much that I ended up with no respect for myself and Iīd do anything just to f**k her one more time. Iīd never felt this way about a chick before. We always get chicks and guys coming up to us and saying that they can relate to this song. Like the song says, "mistreat me right".

LAWS AGAINST LOVE

Davy: This song is about this chick I f**ked (No, really?...Ed.) I thought she was cool until I found out she was underage. Man was I paranoid about this one. I drove her home to this nice house where she lived thinking that the police would be after me any minute. I didnīt want her parents to see me either, they wouldnīt have wanted her with me anyway just by the way I look quite apart from my age! What freaked me out was the fact that even though I could be in love with her right now I could still go to jail, just because her age.

DOWN FOR THE 3RD TIME

Davy: This is about f**king this chick but this time thereīs a twist, because this time sheīs already got a guy.
Danny: Hey man, all these songs are real life experiences of his, itīs like an auto-f**kinī-biography of his life! Everyone of these has a meaning and a girl somewhere behind them except maybe one!
Davy: This is about a situation that arose with this girl where she really wanted to f**k and so did I, but the only thing which was stopping her was this idea that it was wrong because of her boyfriend.

ICY

Davy: This is about this chick who cruises around on a white Harley. Sheīs real a real person and I liked the name so much that I thought itīd be a really good rock nī roll theme. This is basically a really good rock nī roll song.

WITHOUT YOU

Dav: This is really a total love ballad. This is the only song on the album Iīd say is just a love song. (What, no f**king of chicks?)
Davy: I f**ked the girl I wrote it about.
Danny: This is like after you break up with a chick and youīre really down and miserable.
Dav: The twist to this is that when I wrote this song I had a new chick but I was still thinking of the old one. Iīm really proud of this song because I think that itīs difficult to write a good ballad with cool words and a lot of meaning.

READY

Danny: This is the only song that isnīt about chicks, we threw a twist into the record!
Davy: This song is about rock nī roll, itīs about not wanting to be a small town boy. I wrote this about Danny because he got kicked out of school because he didnīt want an education he just wanted to play guitar! This is basically a good kick ass triumphant rock song.
