In the season of 1996 the course runners section organized it´s first lure coursing competition with 18 competing hounds from the nothern part of Sweden. In the picture above: the winner of the "saluqi course 1996" Khalils Bawaq. s

Because of the fact that 95% of our sections hounds is of the breed saluki we could naturly only make a competition for that breed. Our ambition are despite this to get the whippets, afghanhounds and the borzois on the track too. Within the SSC the lure coursing is a new activity, and it´s growing fast. So we believe that our ambitions will soon come through.

The Saluqi course of 1997 went down the drain because I wasn´t physically fit. But I am recharging my batteries for the season of 1998. And I will work my ass off to make this an annual event.

The winner of Saluqi courset-98 Ch Shamali Yawir Khehilan.

At last, we are back! This year we picked up and arranged a new edition of saluqi courset. Saluqi courset-98 got visitors from Gotenburg as well as Boden and Umeċ.This year the prestidges saluqi courset mantle went to Gotenburg and Ch Shamali Yawir Khehilan or "Virre" as he is usually calld! We hope that the owner Ingela Hägg will return next year with Virre to defend the title when the competition becomes an official test.

The winner from Saluqi courset-96 Khalils Bawwaq placed him self on a good second place, showing that he can be one of the favorites in next years compitition! In a hounourable 3 place came our own clubs big hope Shamali Derwish Al Tajwal, that also is a hound that are to be counted of next year!

The 3 topwhippets in Whippet courset-98. From the left the winner Sheza Solo power,Klenods Paulina and Carry on The winner takes it all.

This year the lure coursing competitions in Skellefteċ Sweden also contained a course for the whippets, of cause called "Whippet courset". And this first years course was overwhelmingly won by Sheza Solo power or Bree as she is called at home by her owner Duncan Mc Claud(You know him from the motion picture Highlander)or was it Dunkan Mc Kei? Anyway, this really small whippet puted on a show on the field that almost popped judges eyes out.-A real performens! -My guess is that this Whippet is going to give the Swedish Whippet elit a tuff chalange next year!

Harehunt in a desert?

No, but lure coursing in a sandfield in a village called Byske in Skellefteċ Sweden!

Lure coursing in a sandfield with hights is comparable with a real desertlandscape. This is in particular exciting for the saluki that maybe is the most fitting sighthound within the sighthoundgroup for deserthunting. The difference between conventional lure coursing and lure coursing in a sandfield with hights is that the sandfield lure coursing demands wery well trained hounds. Just think about it! The track doesn´t only go to the left and to the right, it also goes up and down. This is for us new lc territory and the unconventional landscape creates new possibilities in trackmaking, and in the hounds way of hunting. .

-You can almost see in a saluki that, all of a sudden it´s "home". The tactic within them becomes very visible when they overlook the landscape and the "desert" in search of the "hare". It stands there and makes planes infor the hunt they know is coming. Without, in any way discredit the traditional lure coursing, I must say that my opinion is that this is the most total lure coursing experience for the hounds and the owners.

Lure coursing in a sandfield with hights is not more dangerous than ordinary lure coursing. The sand and the hights makes the course go a lot slower and if the hounds for some reasonwould fall, the sand insures a soft landing.-But they will get dusty and dirty, IF they fall that is! Because the tracks "rollercoasterlike apearence" the tracklayer has a big responsibility when planning the track. One of the groundrules in this kind of lure coursing is to lay the track after the principle that the track can have maximum uphills, but minimal downhills. This often results in the fact that the finish is placed 20-30 meters higher than the start. With this kind of lc we are trying to duplicate the hounds natural environment and huntingconditions. It may not bee 100% accuratly, but I think we are somewhere near. This is the ultimate fun for our salukis!

And always remember that: A HAPPY SIGHTHOUND IS A HUNTING SIGHTHOUND!!!!!!
