Linköping is Swedens
fifth largest city, with a population of 132.000. As in many other Swedish cities, the
inhabitants of Linköping have lived their lives from one century to the next as unaware
of the rest of the world as the world has been unaware of them. Just over 100 years ago,
however, people began to become interested in the sleepy little kingdom of Sweden.
Stone by stone, the great cathedral of Linköping rose gradually higher
through the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. Finally, there
it stood, complete, eternal and immovable. Today, as the 21st century is
approaching, 750 years have passed since the beginning of the colossal project.
Linköping is in the centre of the county of Östergötland not only
geographically, but also in the terms of communications. A modern bus and rail interchange
enables efficient travel locally and regionally, as well as nationally and
internationally.
The sunrise is at 5 am and the sunset at 9 pm allowing for outdoor
activities, until late evening. Linköping also offers a variety of restaurants, shops,
museums (including The Swedish Airforce Museum), the picturesque canals the Kinda Canal
and the Göta Canal with lots of locks.
Further information about Linköping and its surroundings is
available in swedish, english, german and french when you arrive or at www.linkoping.se
The Conference will take place at Linköping Konsert & Kongress,
