You are a prisoner aboard a prison transport travelling through space while suddenly the ship gets caught in a
nearby planets grvitaty-field. Although the ships crew tries everything that is in their power to break loose they
crashland on the unexplored planet.
When you finally awake after the crash you are all alone surrouonded by the corpses of your fellow inmates, and to
make matters worse you have quite a splitting headache. After making a quick stop in the medicine-cabinet you try to
find your way out of the wrecked ship and there after begin to explore the surroundings and try to find any inhabitants
on this godforsaken planet. And when you finally succeed you are going to wish that you died in the crash among with
most of the others.
My opinion
Many have said that this game would be the great Quake II-killer. But after hearing this sentence before almost every new
3D-shooter release I must admit that I took this profecy with at least a pinch of salt. And boy do I feel like a fool right
now. It may not beat Quake II with miles but maybe with a few feet.
The first real difference is the appearence, Unreal is without doubt the most beautiful game I've ever seen. The surroundings
makes you drool, the weapons make you gasp with excitment and the enemies makes you tremble with fear (well not really but
almost). The music is good but the one in Quake II is slightly better. The controls are equal and so is the gameplay. The enemies
in Unreal are a lot cooler than Quake II's, especially the Skaarj (the j is silent) who resembles a lot of the Predator (my
favourite alien). They are also a lot smarter then the Quake II goons. This makes Unreal to quite a challange and every now and
then you will find yourself with your back to a corner surrounded with enemies and dangerously low on ammo.
All theese features makes this 3D-shooter the best one yet.
I give it 5+ skulls of 5 possible.
