Mortal Kombat review
The plot
The Sorcerer Shan Tsung has arranged a martial arts contest on his island somewhere in Asia. The 7 fighters who enter the tournament are everything from Shaolin munks to Thunder Gods. Each fighter with its own magical and physical abilites. When you have faced the other six fighters you have to face yourself in a mirror match and then defeat several fighters at once. When you have accomplished that you finally stand before the Mortal Kombat Champion, Goro the half man half dragon four armed, 2000 year old ass-kicker from hell (or something like that). But to really become champion you also have to defeat the former champion Shang Tsung.
My opinion
The thing that made Mortal Kombat such a hit was the great amount of blood that was spraying out of the fighters as they tried to beat the crap out of each other, but under the bloody surface is a pretty good fighting game, it may not have much to say in todays competition betwen the 3D-beat 'em ups but it still has a little Cult status. The thing that really makes the game good is the storyline and the dark atmosphere which surrounds it. A descent beat 'em up which truly has become one of the classics.
I give it 3 skulls of 5 possible.
Boner.
