Jedi Knight Dark Forces II review

The plot

You once again takes on the role of Kyle Katarn, the mercenary fighting for the rebellion. Whith the empire defeated there is a new threat to the alliance. The Dark Jedi, a brotherhood led by the evil Jerec, the man who murdered your father who was a powerful Jedi and the guardian of the valley of the Jedi. Jerec wants to find the valley to gain the powers of the since long dead Jedi-knights who are buried there. Of course you are the only one who has the power to stop him and his henchemen. To do so you have to choose side, the light side or maybe the dark side.

My opinion

I really loved the first game which were, at least according to me the best game on the market at the time. So the expectations on this game was as you might imagine enourmous. Fortunatly it lived up to them and beyond. The graphics maybe are a bit boxy but it runs very smothly with a 3D-graphics card, the music will not make anyone dissapointed (except maybe for Braindead who really hates that theme), the weapons are cool but almost the same arsenal as in the first game. The only new weapons are the bowcaster (the weapon Chewie uses in the movies), the railgun (replaces the old mortar-gun) and of course the famous lightsabre. Another new feature is the forcepowers. There are different powers for both sides and a few natural. The lightsabre/force pull combo is very powerful. There are 17 enemies not including the seven dark knights and a few civilians (it is really hard not to chop these bastards down because they are always in the way). The levels are long but logical and they never get boring. Overall this is probably the best 3D-shoot'em up at the moment and you might ask if this is the Quake killer everyone is waiting for. My answer to that is Quake-Who?
I give it 5 skulls of 5 possible.

Boner.
