Have you ever wanted to solve the Rubik's Cube?

Here's how to do it...
The First Layer    The Second Layer    The Third Layer

Everyone (at least nearly everyone) thinks that the cube should be solved by colors... but that's wrong. The cube should be solved in layers. The Cube will be "turned" right through different "turns". Every "turn" is a 90o turning that will be 1/4 of a whole turn. There are only 6 ways to turn the cube in any direction.

< TD>The Left Side is turned up or down
The Front side is turned as the clock.
The Upper Layer is turned to the right or the left
The Middle Layer is turned to the right or the left
The Lower Layer is turned to the right or the left
The Right Side is turned up or down

It's very important to know which one of the layers that you call up and which one that you call front.
You must know the difference of "Placed on right side/place" and "Right turned". Every piece shall be placed on it's place in the cube, but it must also be turned right "the colored way".

In The Upper Layer and The Middle Layer (moment 1-3), you will place the pieces both "Right turned" and "Placed on the right side" at the same time. In The Lower Layer this will NOT occur at the same time (see moment 4-5 and then 6-7).

1. The Upper layer: every EDGE-piece will be placed on the right place and turned right at the same time.
2. The Upper layer: every CORNER-piece will be placed on the right place and turned right at the same time.
3. The Middle layer: every EDGE-piece will be placed on the right place and turned right at the same time.
4. The Lower layer: the 4 EDGE-pieces will be placed on the right place.
5. The Lower layer: the 4 EDGE-pieces will be turned right.
6. The Lower layer: the 4 CORNER-pieces will be placed on the right place.
7. The Lower layer: the 4 CORNER-pieces will be turned right.

HOW TO BEGIN
Start to turn the whole cube right in your hand. Always hold that side that you will call "up" turned up in moment 1, 2 and 3. I will in this example use blue as up.

THE FIRST LAYER - moment 1: edges
Find the blue EDGE piece that has the same color as the "front side" of the cube.
If the piece is like this: DO NOTHING!
    If it's like this, do:
If it's like this (the blue is under the cube), do:
    If it's like this, do:
    If it's like this, do:
If it's like this (the "c" is under the cube), do:

THE FIRST LAYER - moment 2: corners
Find the blue CORNER piece that has the same color as the "front side" of the cube and the same color as the "right side" of the cube. NOTE! The green colored side is the "right side" of the cube.
The piece in the lower left corner should move to the upper right corner, do:

From lower left corner to upper right corner ("green" is under the cube), do:

To turn a piece where "blue" is under the cube, do:

WARNING!!! To do this you must first have a none "blue" on the top of the same side of the cube, otherwise you will destroy what you have done before.
If you have done what is explained above, then you should have one side in same color. If not... try again, and please feel free to mail me.
Now on to the next layer. Are you ready?

THE SECOND LAYER - moment 3: edges
This layer is solved in one "way" and one "mirror way". NOTE! The green colored side is the "right side" of the cube and the red side is "left side".
The piece, which is at the bottom-middle, should be green underneath. Do:

The piece, which is at the bottom-middle, should be red underneath. Do:

Now you should have a cube that's (in colors, not in "physical activity") 66% ready.
Now on to the next layer. Are you ready?

THE THIRD LAYER - moment 4: edges
...now is where the real problems starts. From now on the layer formerly known as "upper" is now "lower" and the other way around. In other words Turn the cube up side down! This means that the layer that I have called blue, is now at the bottom, and I will now have "light purple" color as the top.

If all edges are at their right places (not necessarily right turned) go to moment 5.

In this moment the pieces do NOT have to be right turned.
To switch places of those two "red-marked" pieces, do:

When you have all edges at their right places (not necessarily right turned), move on to the next moment, to turn the edges right. If the edges are right turned already, go to moment 6.
Now on to the next layer. Are you ready?

THE THIRD LAYER - moment 5: edges (turn them right)
In this moment, there are many people who do big mistakes in the beginning, which makes the whole cube in to a total disorder. To prevent this, be sure to not turn the whole cube, just the upper layer when you have done the following movements once.

Find a piece that are going to be turned, there will always be either 2 or 4 (except 0) pieces to turn. Do as the arrows below, turn the upper layer (not the whole cube!) until you have a new piece that are going to be turned, and then repeat the arrows. I repeat once more: Don't turn the whole cube, just the upper layer!

Remember that the layer that was called "upper" from the beginning, is still turned down and now called "lower".

To switch the "Red spot" and the "Purple spot", do:

Then just turn the upper layer to next piece that are going to switch colors and repeat the arrows. After the pieces has switched "color place", turn the upper layer so that all colors fit again.
Now should all pieces, except for the last corners, be in both their "places" and right turned. Now on to moment 6: corners (put them in position)

Are you ready for the next moment?

THE THIRD LAYER - moment 6: corners (last corners in position)
We are now at the second-last part.

If all corners are in their positions (but not turned right), go to the last moment, moment 7.

If no corners are at the right place, then pick one random to start with, as if it were in its right place. Turn the whole cube so that the corner, that are in the right place (but not necessarily right turned), are at the left-back of the upper layer (see image below), then do as the arrows shows. This will switch place on the three red-marked pieces. You might have to do this moment a few times just to get all the edges on their right place.

To switch places of those there "red-marked" pieces, do:

When you have done this, turn all layers so that all edges are at their right sides.
Now, move on the last moment. The completion of the cube...

THE THIRD LAYER - moment 7: corners (the completion of the cube)
In this moment, Do not turn the whole cube!!!, just the upper layer. If you make the mistake to turn the whole cube, go to moment 1 and start all over again...

You should have the same front side the whole time. When decided which side to be front, start the turning as the arrows shows.

The piece in the front-upper-right corner shall not be right turned. If it's so, turn the upper layer (NOT THE WHOLE CUBE!) to find a piece which is not right turned.
The "red-marked" piece indicates which corner that you are turning.

The first corner:
Do the 8 turnings above. If the corner still is not turned the right way, do the 8 turnings again, and if not turned right then... repeat until it's right turned. NOTE! be sure to do exactly 8 turnings, not 4, 7 or 9!!!

When the first corner is right turned and right placed, the whole cube looks like a total mess. This is nothing to worry about. Now, turn the upper layer (Not the whole cube) and find the next piece to be turned the right way (and places it in the front-upper-right corner). NOTE! Always have the same front side!

Repeat all the above, in this moment, to complete the cube.
When you have completed this moment, just turn the layers so that all the each of the cube's sides will be in one color.

This should be the last thing to do. You should now have a complete cube in front of you, if not... try again.
